doc. Andrew L. Roberts, Ph.D.
Andrew Roberts grew up in New Jersey, USA and attended the same high school as the comedian Jon Stewart. He received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Williams College. Before beginning his graduate studies, he taught high school algebra and spent several years teaching ESL in Brno and studying Czech. He received a PhD in Politics from Princeton University for a dissertation on social policy reforms.
Since then his research interests have focused on the quality of democracy and political institutions, particularly as those topics intersect with the post-communist region. His main current project focuses on the political activities of billionaires, but he is also writing papers on the effectiveness of Czech MPs, the relationship between nationalism and citizenship, and voting for football awards. Outside of political science, he is interested in helping students to get a better education and popular culture in the Czech Republic and has published books on both subjects.
