Jirušek at Midwest Political Science Association Conference
27.4.2021/ Martin Jirušek took part in the traditional Midwest Political Science Association conference held online on April 14 – 18.
During the four-day program, Martin presented two papers and chaired a panel. In his first contribution titled „Effective Tool or Useless List? Projects of Common Interest in the Sector of Natural Gas in Southeast Europe“, Martin elaborated on the EU´s support schemes in the natural gas sector and their policy implications in southeast Europe. Martin co-authored this research with Jana Červinková, an alumna of our International Relations and Energy Security study program.
His second contribution was named „A New Tool in the Box? Rosatom as the Kremlin´s Proxy in Energy Sector“ and focused on the role of Rosatom state corporation in Russia´s foreign policy. Martin presented the research on behalf of a research team entailing, among himself, Tomáš Vlček, and James Henderson from the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies (UK).
At the end of the conference, Martin also chaired a panel titled Strategy and Credibility, which revolved around polarity and power struggle in the world system.
