Jirušek at the Central Asia/Caspian Sea – the new hydrocarbons gateway for Europe conference

6.4.2018/ On Wednesday, April 4 Martin Jirušek spoke at the Viennese conference titled Central Asia/Caspian Sea – the new hydrocarbons gateway for Europe organized by the Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe, Diplomatic Academy of Vienna and the Vienna Euro-Asian Forum.

The conference focused on the potential of the Central Asian/Caspian hydrocarbons for the European market and Martin presented his analysis of gas markets in southeastern Europe. In his contribution, Martin offered his view on the future of these markets from the economic and political perspective and offered solutions to the most pressing issues. Incoherence, non-transparency and poorly conducted policies were identified as the most glaring obstacles to the development. On the other hand, Martin maintained that the region has an undisputed potential for the transit of natural gas further to Europe.
