Roundtable - The Future of Druzhba Oil Pipeline - Strategic Challenge for Poland and the Czech Republic
On 16th February 2012 a round table named "The Future of the Druzhba pipeline - strategic challenge for Poland and the Czech Republic" was held at the Consulate General of Poland in Ostrava. The presented outcomes were a result of year-long research of International Institute of Political Science of Masaryk University and the Centre for Eastern Studies, which was made within a framework of the Czech-Polish Forum.
The aim of the research was to analyze real importance of the Druzhba pipeline, Russian proclamations concerning limiting or interrupting its operation, find out which threats result from putting the pipeline out of operation and how high the risk of realization is. The round table was attended by members of the creative team from IIPS and OSW, relevant state institutions representatives from Czech Republic and Poland and academic representatives from the University of Ostrava, etc. The outcomes of the research and opinions gathered within the round table may serve to identify points on which a cooperation in Polish and Czech oils sector can be built.
