The Conference ‘60 Years of the Council of Europe – 50 Years of the European Court of Human Rights‘ Took Place at the Faculty of Social Studies
The conference ‘60 Years of the Council of Europe - 50 Years of the European Court of Human Rights‘, organized by Czech Centre for Human Rights and Democratization, took place at the Faculty of Social Studies on 3rd December 2009.
The visitors have been provided with insights by experts on various practical issues nowadays related to the functioning of European Court of Human Rights.
As for the speakers, Kateřina Šimáčková, judge at the Supreme Administrative Court, professor Dalibor Jílek, or Vít Schorm, Government Representative at the European Court of Human Rights presented their papers, among others. The conference was also attended by the Constitutional Court representatives, legal assistants at the European Court of Human Rights, attorneys, representatives of non-governmental organizations, or Council of Europe information office.
Presented variety of papers has enabled the attendees to think about current role of the European Court of Human Rights in Europe, the most significant problems that it faces, as well as challenges that may occur in near future including the need to reform. Practical aspects of the functioning of the Court were also discussed.
