New Issue of the ACSC Bulletin

New issue of the Bulletin of the Azerbaijan and Caspian Studies Center focuses on the connections between the Caspian region and global politics. The papers deal with the perspective of the Caspian countries in the international organizations such as NATO and OSCE, as well as on the geopolitical topics or questions of social development.

Call for Papers: Caspian Region in Global Politics

Upcoming issue of the Azerbaijan and Caspian Studies Center Bulletin will deal with the Caspian region in global politics from economic, security or cultural point of view. Other perspectives may also be welcome. The topic of a particular text should be discussed at kovacovska(at)iips.cz.

Winner of the Student Essay Competition on the Caspian Region

In December 2010, an event named ‘Students' Views of the Caspian Region' took place at the Faculty of Social Studies. The papers have been presented by the finalists of the student essay competition on the Caspian region - Jaromír Vojtaj, Peter Števkov, Nela Armutidisová, Jozef Janovský, and Aleš Zatloukal. First place went to Nela Armutidisová for her work on the conflict of tradition and modernity in Baku. The prize consists of the trip to Baku as well as publication of the essay in spring issue of the Bulletin.

New Issue of the Azerbaijan and Caspian Studies Center Bulletin

In December 2010, new issue of the Bulletin of the Azerbaijan and Caspian Studies Center has been published with focus on bilateral relations between Caspian and European countries. It analyzes these relations from many perspectives, including foreign policy, economy, but also security. Can Germany act as a mediator of the Caucasus? What are the priority areas for the Czech diplomacy towards Southern Caucasus? These are just a few examples of questions answered by the new bulletin, available here.

Students' Views of the Caspian Region

Azerbaijan and Caspian Studies Centre, IIPS MU and Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan invite you to the discussion "Students' Views of the Caspan Region' which will take place at 6pm, 8th December 2010, room U41 at the Faculty of Social Studies. The papers will be presented by the finalists of the essay competition for a trip to Baku Jaromir Vojtaj, Peter Števkov, Nela Armutidisová, Jozef Janovský, and Aleš Zatloukal. The discussion will be followed by the announcement of the winner of the competition. The prize will be awarded by dr. Oldřich Krpec, director of the IIPS MU.

ACSC Bulletin - New Issue

In April 2010, Bulletin of the Azerbaijan and Caspian Studies Center has been issued. It contains articles on the EU relations towards Central Asia in the context of energy (Irena Buršová), relations between the European Union and Central Asia (Peter Plenta), regime change in Georgia (Ondrej Schütz), interview with Altai Efendiev from the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Jana Kovačovská), interview with Tim Gould from the International Energy Agency in Paris (Jana Kovačovská), article on political and security involvement of the EU in the South Caucasus conflict resolution (Valer Lomuashvili) and article on the relations between Georgia and the EU (Jan Husák). The Bulletin has been published in the Czech language and is available here.

Azerbaijan and Caspian Studies Center (ACSC) is part of the International Institute of Political Science of Masaryk University (IIPS). It aims to bring information about increasingly important region to wider public, through cooperation among scholars, students and representatives of cultural, media and public sphere.

Azerbaijan and Caspian Studies Center Bulletin

Azerbaijan and Caspian Studies Center Bulletin is a quarterly published, center-run journal which analyzes the most important current events and significant long-term issues in the region. ACSC Bulletin helps to provide information to both scholarly and non-academic readers. Among the audience of the Bulletin, representatives from public sector (Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and their Slovak counterparts), academic institutions and business sector. Each issue is being sent according to its topic to the relevant institutions and individuals. Bulletin has its own publication number (ISSN).
